COT Training¶
Club Officer Training (COT) is a core district responsibility. ToastHost gives district leaders the tools to publish training, take registrations, and track which officers have completed it.
How COT is organised¶
ToastHost models COT as three levels:
| Level | What it is |
|---|---|
| Round | A training period (Round 1 in summer, Round 2 in winter). Created automatically for your district each season. |
| Event | A sitting of the training within a round — usually run by a particular area or division, or in a given format (e.g. "Area 13 COT", "Division D COT", "Areas 2 & 3 COT"). Officers register for events. |
| Session | A scheduled sitting of an event — a date, time, and location or online link. An event can have one or several. |
Training parts (2026 model)¶
Each session is one part of the training:
| Part | Who it's for | Counts as |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | All officers (general) | A shared "bookend", done once |
| Role Specific | One officer role | One role's credit |
| Part 2 | All officers (general) | A shared "bookend", done once |
| Full Session | All officers | Part 1 + Role Specific + Part 2 in one sitting |
An officer completes training for a role by attending Part 1 + Role Specific + Part 2 (within one event) or a single Full Session. The general parts are shared across all of an officer's roles, so an officer with several roles needs just one extra Role Specific part per additional role. You can deliver all three as one Full Session or split them into separate sittings — see Sessions.
Where to find it¶
Open your district and go to COT Training (/app/district/<id>/cot). The hub
shows the public training calendar and, for district leaders, the Club
Officer Training rounds table — open a round to manage it.

The workflow¶
- Create and publish events for the round — only Live events are visible to officers.
- Schedule sessions with dates, times, and joining details.
- Officers register (see the officer guide).
- Track attendance and completion as the round progresses.
COT topics¶
| Topic | Description |
|---|---|
| Managing Events | Create and publish training events |
| Sessions | Schedule sittings within an event |
| Emails and Notifications | What ToastHost emails registrants, and when |
| Tracking | Track officer attendance and completion |
Reporting to TI¶
Districts report COT completion to Toastmasters International; it counts toward clubs' Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals. Use Tracking to monitor completion and export records.
